Today I stumbled over the report from Techcrunch and had a quick look on the new search engines mentioned there.
Whereas Bing is running a big ad-campaign to promote itself, Wolframalpha is just there and provides a nice knowledge database.
I think both portals are well done, but have a slightly different focus. There is just so much rumor going on about Bing, that Wolframalpha can profit form the press coverage (as I do promote both sites here as well).
Bing is focusing much on actuality and is continuing to index the most actual things and trends from the web. Additionally the image search is nicely done.
Wolframalpha concentrates much more on scientific knowledge and can indeed be used as a working tool (but more for Quants as for others). The most important feature on Wolframalpha is, that you can immediately export the result set to Mathematica, which is indeed not very surprising if one knows that "Wolfram Research" is developing Mathematica. Never the less, I think this is a good example of integration of different platforms and has some nice features to use for scientific work.
